Love Notes

I awakened this morning to the familiar “ding” of a new message on my phone. Someone was thinking of me and sending love energy to surround me on this day of the third year anniversary of my son’s suicidal death. My phone rang. Another friend was calling to say he would like to come by and hang out with me for the afternoon. It has been like that for the past few hours. Phone calls, text messages, and e-mails have come in, all reminding me of my new story and sending me love and support. It’s a good feeling.

My son, Lee Thompson Young, was an avid writer. He wrote in his journal on a regular basis and often scribbled on note pads around the house. One of the last things he wrote was, “ I have to feel loved.” Many people loved and admired him, but I don’t think he could feel it. I am reminded that we all need to feel loved. In honor of Lee, one of the most loving persons I have ever known, I ask you for a favor. Take time today to perform an act of kindness that will help someone feel the comforting warmth of being surrounded with the energy of love. I am grateful to all who have reached out to me in thought, word, or deed.

Much love and many blessings,
Dr. Velma Love
